Mid-year Book Freakout Tag

It’s time for the Mid-year book freakout tag! I know, I’m a little late to the party but I honestly lost track of time. It’s crazy that half a year passed, 2020 is just weird. The last few months have been really hard for me reading wise, I totally lost the joy of reading.(Not with books, just with reading in general) I was only reading to write reviews, it felt like a chore. But last week I started to get super happy and motivated again since starting “Devious Lies” and “Children of Blood and Bone”. These two books got me back into the game. Hopefully the reading persists the rest of the year. Let’s start this tag !

Best book you’ve read so far in 2020

It’s so hard to choose just one! I’ve read so many amazing books so far and I refuse to name just one. For the sake of being fair, I’m going to choose 2 books, because they were equally amazing in their own way and absolutely stuck with me. Crescent City by Sarah J.Maas and Of Silver & Shadow by Jennifer Gruenke

Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2020

I haven’t read many sequels so far to be honest. But my favorite is Violent Ends by Jessica Hawkins. I read the whole Trilogy these past few months and it quickly became one of my favorite romance books out there.

New release you haven’t read yet, but want to

Can I just say: Too many. One glance at my tbr and you will see some how many new releases are on there. One of the most recent one is Shielded by Kaylynn Flanders. The synopsis sounds so promising and the cover is so pretty that I really really want to read it.

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

I didn’t even have to think twice before answering this question in my head ! Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin is my most anticipated release ! Hands down !!

Biggest Disappointment

I am heartbroken that Silent Waters by Brittainy C. Cherry (still one of my favorite Authors) was such a disappointment for me. I was extremely frustrated with the main character and the whole book was bland and boring. . I was so close to dnf it but then I thought about the time I had already spent on it.

Biggest Surprise

Bone Crier’s Moon by Kathryn Purdie was such a surprise for me. I mean I knew that I would probably like it but I literally read the whole book in one day. 24 hours !! I loved everything about. Yes, there were some minor issues but my overall experience with it was surprisingly amazing.

Newest fictional crush

Hands down Hunt Athalar !! He is broody, powerful and his life so mysterious. Let’s not forget how good looking he is and he has wings. I don’t think you need more convincing.

Newest favorite character

Bryce Quinlan. How fitting to our previous question, right ? She was just so unique. Even though she wasn’t my favorite at first, she quickly grew on me and by the end of the book I was crying with her and feeling her pain. She was just an amazing character.

Book that made you cry

Enemies by Tijan surprisingly made me cry several times. I was absolutely not expecting tears to roll down my face but the topics were so real and hit really close to my life.

Book that made you happy

There were several books that made me happy,. Again I’m going to mention two because I can’t choose. Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim and The worst best Man by Mia Sosa. The latter made me grin from ear to ear and I was giddy all the time. Spin the Dawn was just a pleasant, happy read because it reminded me of Disney and my childhood.

Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year

Children of Virtue and Vengeance has one of the prettiest covers I’ve seen. The cover is so powerful, I love it.

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

So many! I’m most definitely going to read “Blood & Honey” and I also desperately want to read “Storm & Fury” by Jennifer L.Armentrout.

I also more than loved “The Guinevere Deception” by Kiersten White and the sequel ” The Camelot Betrayal” is going to be published in November. So I want to make sure to read it by the end of 2020.

That’s it. Tell me: what’s your favorite read in 2020 so far ?

  1. I just finished Crescent City and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it! I picked it up and just the right time and had so much fun with it. I’m really excited to see where this series go, especially since book 1 reads like pretty much like a standalone. I’m also really looking forward to Blood and Honey!! Definitely one of my most anticipated reads this year.
